Antique, Vintage or Retro? Most likely, a particular design aesthetic or image comes to mind when you hear any of these words.
What are musical items with a Antique, Vintage or Retro look?
Antique, Vintage or Retro each have their own style qualities and incorporate various things and time spans. Here are a few definitions to keep things basic.
Antique: Anything that is more than 100 years old qualifies as an antique. So, 1925 or earlier can be described as an antique. We’ve had banjos, banjoleles, drums and more that all qualify as an antique.
Vintage: Items over 20 years old up to 99 are considered vintage. Musical related items which just look old enough to feel like they are from a prior time span or a former period. We sell a lot of vintage guitars from 1950s, 60s and 70s which all qualify as vintage.
Retro: It’s possible that retro musical items are quite new or even available to buy new today. These things are recently manufactured but intended to seem like one of a kind or antique items.
At Musical Treasures we’re more likely to be selling Antique and Vintage items. Less so with Retro music related items, although they may be valid if the Antique or Vintage items are like hens teeth!
We’ll cover more on the topic in the future.
