The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society began producing portable phonographs in 1934 to be used in their ministry. The phonographs were designed to play Bible lectures during door-to-door ministries along with literature or for families to gather and listen to a recorded Bible messages.and offer literature to people during the 1930s and 40s.
The phonographs were effective in helping people get started in the preaching work. For example, one householder named Hillary Goslin borrowed a phonograph to share the Kingdom message with his neighbourrs. When the publisher returned, he found several new people who were interested.
The Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society is a religious organisation that supports Jehovah’s Witnesses and the teaching of the Bible. They have produced Bible-based publications in more than 700 languages.
